“Kid Kits” Donated to Brandywine Hospital Emergency Department

(April 26th 2010—Coatesville, PA) The Elverson United Methodist Church youth group donated 100 white bags filled with a granola bar, fruit roll-up, juice box and crayons. “The kits are for the children waiting in the emergency room with their parents.” said Karley Webster, one of the youth group members, “The bags are white so that they can use the crayons to draw and color on them.”

Rev. Jim McNair of Elverson UMC accompanied the group to the hospital to give out the donation. “We would like to make this an ongoing donation, bringing more kits as the need increases”.

The youth group members made the kits while they were participating in the World Vision 30 Hour Famine.  During this event, participants must abstain from eating for 30 hours in order to raise awareness for world hunger.

Dave Schmidt, Director of Emergency Services at Brandywine Hospital was very grateful for the group’s donation. “The generosity and work that went into the packets by the Elverson UMC Youth Group was phenomenal! The nurses were all very excited and thankful for the packets and have already reported many looks of surprise and smiles when a child has received the pack."

The Elverson UMC youth group is led by Corinne Charter and is comprised of sixth through twelfth graders.
