Financial Aid Policy
The Program at Brandywine School of Nursing is designed to help all qualified students to pursue a nursing education regardless of their financial circumstances.
To be given full consideration for financial assistance students must meet an August 1 deadline for the items below. (May 1 is the deadline for previous PHEAA State Grant applicants.)
-
Complete a combined FAFSAapplication for a Pennsylvania State Grant and Federal Student Aid. (Apply free online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov ) This will generate a Congressional Methodology Needs Analysis report based upon that System — the basis for determining student need. Even non-residents of Pennsylvania may use this combined application to generate a need analysis and possibly a Pell grant. Only Pennsylvania residents can qualify for a Pennsylvania State Grant, non-residents must apply for a grant from their State Higher Education Assistance Agency.
-
Upon request, remit to the Financial Aid Officer signed copies of the student's and parent’s Federal Income Tax forms for the year preceding the beginning of instruction for the year aid is requested.
-
Transfer students who attended other post secondary schools must have Financial Aid Transcripts from those schools sent to the Financial Aid Officer if midyear transfer.
-
Secure a Stafford Loan Application from the Financial Aid Office, complete it and return it to the school. This is important since most aid packages will include a Stafford Student Loan.
-
Complete an entrance interview.
-
If eligible for grants through the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation or the Veterans Administration, contact your area representative.
-
Comply with requests for verification as required by the Financial Aid Officer and in compliance with regulations pertinent to federal and state financial aid programs.
Students may also apply for private scholarships and loans administered jointly by private agencies and governmental agencies and the School. Throughout the year announcements about these and other private scholarships and loans are posted on bulletin boards in the School. Most private organizations administer their programs independently and do not involve the school in application or selection process.
Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office. Contact the Financial Aid Officer for information.
Important: To be considered for financial aid, students must complete the entire process each year and must maintain good academic standing and satisfactory progress as defined by the School. To be considered for a student loan, all students are required to attend entrance and exit interviews with the Financial Aid Officer.
Expenses
Potential students should check with the Financial Officer to determine the tuition rate, which is adjusted periodically. Tuition and all other fees are subject to change at any time. Students may pre-register for courses prior to paying their tuition, but are not considered officially enrolled in the courses until all fees are paid for that semester/term.
Refund Policy
The Brandywine School of Nursing refund policy is administered in compliance with Title IV regulations. Refunds are based on the official withdrawal date recorded on the change of status form; they apply to any student receiving Financial Aid who drops below six credits and is no longer eligible for Financial Aid.
Return of Title IV Funds
Title IV funds are awarded to a student under the assumption that the student will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. When a student withdraws, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of Title IV funds that the student was originally scheduled to receive. The amount of Title IV Program assistance earned is based on the amount of time the student spent in academic attendance.Up through the 60 percent point in each payment period or period of enrollment, a prorated schedule is used to determine the amount of Title IV funds the student has earned at the time of withdrawal. See bursar for more specific details.
If the student expects the tuition and fees to be paid by scholarship or other sources and this financial assistance is lost; the student will be responsible for all charges.
School Refund Schedule
If it becomes necessary for a student to withdraw or if he/she is suspended from the Brandywine School of Nursing before the completion of the 4th week of the semester, he/she might be eligible for a refund. Tuition charges are assessed in proportion to the length of the student’s enrollment from the first day of classes to the date of withdrawal or dismissal.
