Brandywine Hospital offers both, inpatient and outpatient surgeries, which are performed by our board-certified, fellowship trained, medical staff utilizing minimally invasive techniques. In addition, our team consists of nurses, anesthesiologists and surgical technicians, each one providing compassionate medical care.
Our surgical services include:
What can you expect?
Before your surgery, you will meet with a Pre-Admission Testing (PAT)
registered nurse (RN) who will work with your primary care physician and
help your surgeon have all the reports he or she will need for your
surgery. Your PAT RN will be able to answer all of your questions
regarding the day of surgery and make sure you have all of your
pre-procedure instructions. Brandywine Hospital will call you to tell
you what time to arrive for your surgery. Perioperative RNs will prepare
you for surgery, and the surgeon and anesthesiologist will review the
final details of your procedure and answer any questions you may have.
The surgery itself will be performed in one of our surgical suites: a
fully-equipped operating room stocked with integrated diagnostic imaging
technology and surgical equipment. During the procedure, friends and
family are welcome to wait in the surgery waiting room, a comfortable
space where they'll be provided updates from our nursing staff.
After surgery, you'll be brought to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit
(PACU), or recovery unit. Here, you'll recover from your procedure under
the watchful eye of our registered nurses, located mere steps away, who
have been specifically trained in post-operative care. While you're
recovering, take heart in knowing that your loved ones will be fully
informed of your progress, leading up to your release from the hospital.
But the care doesn't end there. One you're deemed healthy enough to
leave, we'll check in to make sure your recovery is going as planned,
and can answer any questions you might have.
